Mumbai — India national cricket team defeated England national cricket team by seven runs in a thrilling semi-final to secure a place in the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The victory sets up a title clash with the New Zealand national cricket team in the tournament’s final.

India posted a formidable 253/7 in 20 overs, with a commanding innings from Sanju Samson leading the batting effort. England responded strongly in the chase but ultimately fell short at 246/7, despite a remarkable century from Jacob Bethell.

Samson Powers India to Massive Total

India’s innings was anchored by wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson, who scored 89 runs off 42 balls, setting the platform for one of the highest totals of the tournament. Contributions from players including Ishan Kishan, Shivam Dube, and Hardik Pandya helped maintain momentum throughout the innings.

The aggressive batting display pushed India to 253/7, leaving England with a challenging target of 254 to reach the final.

Bethell Century Keeps England in Contest

England mounted a strong reply, highlighted by a brilliant century from Jacob Bethell, which kept the chase alive deep into the final overs.

Despite the impressive knock, England’s batting lineup struggled to close the gap against disciplined Indian bowling in the death overs.

India’s bowlers held their nerve in the closing stages, restricting England to 246/7, sealing a narrow seven-run victory in a match that produced nearly 500 runs across both innings.

Final Set Against New Zealand

With the semi-final win, India advances to the T20 World Cup 2026 final, where they will face New Zealand in the tournament’s title match.

The match highlighted the high-scoring nature of modern T20 cricket and set the stage for what is expected to be a closely contested final between two strong teams.

India will now aim to convert their semi-final victory into championship success when they meet New Zealand in the tournament decider.
