Pakistan’s Under-19 cricket team recorded an impressive six-wicket victory over Scotland in the 12th match of the ICC Men’s U19 World Cup 2026 on Monday, powered by a crucial half-century from Usman Khan and disciplined bowling from the pace and spin attack.

Chasing a modest target of 188, Pakistan reached 188 for 4 in 43.1 overs to clinch the win at the Takashinga Sports Club. It was Pakistan’s first victory in the tournament after an earlier loss to England, and the performance will boost the team’s confidence as they look ahead to later group fixtures.

Usman and Ahmed Lead the Chase

After winning the toss and restricting Scotland to 187 all out, courtesy of disciplined bowling from Ali Raza and Momin Qamar, Pakistan’s batsmen set about their reply with a steady start. Early wickets briefly put pressure on the chasing side, but Usman Khan and Ahmed Hussain seized control with a 111-run partnership for the third wicket.

Usman was particularly impressive, scoring 75 off 85 balls with a mix of controlled rotation and powerful hitting, while Ahmed contributed 47 runs, laying the platform for an assured finish.

Their partnership stabilised the innings after Pakistan lost both openers early and set up the target chase with calm, tactical batting. Captain Farhan Yousaf later sealed the win with a boundary, keeping Pakistan ahead despite Scotland’s efforts.

Bowling Performance Sets Up Win

Earlier in the game, Pakistan’s bowling unit delivered a disciplined performance, bowling Scotland out for 187. Fast bowler Ali Raza led the attack with figures of 4 for 37, while left-arm spinner Momin Qamar claimed three wickets. The two bowlers kept regular pressure on the Scottish batting lineup, restricting scoring chances and forcing errors.

Scotland’s innings saw contributions from Thomas Knight, Ollie Jones, and Finlay Jones, but Pakistan’s attack proved too consistent to allow a large total. The bowlers’ performance confirmed that Pakistan is a serious contender in the youth tournament.

Significance of the Win

This result not only gave Pakistan two valuable points in the group stage but also signaled that the young Green Shirts can compete fiercely in the global competition. Momentum from a solid win helps their campaign, especially with upcoming fixtures against tougher opponents in the group.

Youth cricket has long been a breeding ground for future stars. Success at this level — similar to how the Pakistan Super League has evolved into a platform for young talent — feeds into the broader ecosystem of Pakistani cricket and helps build readiness for higher levels. What’s Next for Pakistan U19

Pakistan’s next match in the U19 World Cup is against Zimbabwe, where another strong performance will be crucial for their chances of progressing to the knockout phases. Fans and selectors alike will be watching to see whether the momentum from this win can be sustained.

The U19 World Cup remains a key showcase for future international stars, and performances here often herald senior careers to come.
